This document specifies how the level 3 multihoming Shim6 protocol (Shim6) detects failures between two communicating nodes. It also specifies an exploration protocol for switching to another pair of interfaces and/or addresses between the same nodes if a failure occurs and an operational pair can be found.

De OV-chipkaart

De OV-chipkaart is, zoals de naam al zegt, een chipkaart die als kaartje gaat dienen in het openbaar vervoer. De chip is draadloos over een korte afstand uit te lezen en bevat een zekere hoeveelheid geheugen en wat intelligentie. Het systeem werkt door voor een reis "in te checken" en daarna weer "uit te checken". Ook voor abonnementshouders is dit verplicht. Als je geen abonnement hebt moet je eerst een saldo op de kaart laden. Vervolgens wordt er bij inchecken een instaptarief afgeschreven en bij uitchecken krijg je het instaptarief terug en wordt de prijs voor de reis afgeschreven.
